GUIDE TO A BETTER LIFE

This is amazing, Randy Pausch 47 yrs old, A computer Sc. lecturer from Mellon University he died of pancreatic cancer in 2008, but wrote a book ‘The last lecture” before then, one of the bestsellers in 2007. What a legacy to leave behind…
In a letter to his wife and his children, Dylan, Logan, and Chloe, he wrote this beautiful "guide to a better life" for his wife and children to follow. May you be blessed by his insight?

POINTS ON HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR LIFE Personality:

1. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
2. Don't have negative thoughts of things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment
3. Don't over do; keep your limits
4. Don't take yourself so seriously; no one else does
5. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip
6. Dream more while you are awake
7. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need..
8. Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner of his/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.
9. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others.
10. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present
11. No one is in charge of your happiness except you
12. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn.
13. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but theee lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
14. Smile and laugh more
15. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

Community:

16. Call your family often
17. Each day give something good to others
18. Forgive everyone for everything
19. Spend time with people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6
20. Try to make at least three people smile each day
21. What other people think of you is none of your business
22. Your job will not take care of you when you are sick. Your family and friends will. Stay in touch.

Life:

23. Do the right things
24. However good or bad a situation is, it will change
25. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up
26. The best is yet to come
27. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful

While you practice all of the above, share this knowledge with the people you love, people you school with, people you play with, people you work with and people you live with. Not only will it enrich YOUR life, but also that of those around you.

Meditation

What is meditation ?

A lot of people think that meditation is all about concentration. Actually meditation is not at all related to concentration, but the byproduct of meditation is concentration :)

Where can i meditate ?

You dont need to go into forest or himalayas for meditation.
Even walking can be meditation if we are aware of it.

Guruji Talking about Problems !!!

This is a note of a speech given by guruji.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8SBDdIED1I

" You know what stops you, bottles you is your problems. And you know everybody else have the same problems. Slightly different problems. People say i want to talk to you guruji alone, there is no need. In the ashram, I have kept 5 baskets, I know what the problem is. Either the problem is about relationship, one basket. Job or finance another basket. Health and health related third basket and misc. fourth one. Fifth big worries about the society and world. What will happen to this country after 10 years. or any complaints about me you can put it in fifth basket. and i have my own way to reply to them all.

Life is too short to keep solving problem one after another i tell. Just wake up and walk ahead, and problems will get solved by themselves. You are not alone, wake up. Ypu are not alone, There is some power with you which is walking you through all the problems. "

Right Here Right Now !!!

When we come to this world we cry and everyone else around us rejoice, and when we die we rejoice and everyone else around us cry.

When we come to this world our palms are closed tightly. We want to signify that we gonna rule on everything in this world. We will have all the powers in our hand. Anything and everything can be changed. Do you think we can change anything in this world ? We are not the Doer.

Also observe when someone die, he has his palms open and facing towards the sky. Now can we see who is the doer? Its interesting that we realize these things when we are close to our deathbed.

If we go to any temple in south India, person who performs the pooja, puts 'vibhuti' (ash) on their forehead. There is huge significance behind that. The ash serves as a reminder to the believer to cast away selfish and worldly desires that wrap the self in maya, and calls to mind the story of how Shiva burned Kama (the god of desire) to ashes when Kama attempted to break Shiva's focus on the Divine Truth.

You can do whatever you want to do in life, one day you will be sure gonna die. This is the ultimate truth in the world. You will die and will not be able to take anything from this materialistic world. Why are we running behind everything like a dog. Have you ever observed dogs in the villages? If you are travelling by car then they will bark at you, follow you for some distance. If you stop, then they will just wait for another moving vehicle and as soon as there is a new vehicle, they will start barking at it and running behind it.
We are treating life in a same way. We are running behind maya. It starts from our childhood. If i get this toy, i will be the most happiest person. You get the toy, you play with it for sometime. Then you start thinking if i get a bicycle i will be on top of the world. You get one and you ride for someday. These list of things is endless. It continues with branded clothes, watches, bike, car, house, bank balance and so on.
Have you calculated the amount of time you spend in enjoying these luxuries and the amount of time you invested in following them. Have you ever calculated the efforts that you put in it? And are you really happy when you have those things?

Happiness is in present. one can be happy in this very moment. Past brings tears, Future brings fear, that is why present is so so so dear. But we have forgotten this, we always let our mind swing between past and future. Even if we worry about future or cry about past, will that change our present.

So how can we come out of this? How can we make sure that we are enjoying present?
How can we come over the stress and anxiety of the future? There is a simple rule to that SMS. Do Sadhana ( yoga, pranayam, chanting ). Do Meditation. Do Seva ( serve those who want your help. serve people in whatever way its possible for you).

Human being is like cell phone. If a cell phone have SIM, balance, and range but the battery is not working. Will you be able to talk? Similarly we need to recharge our self through the power of sadhana, meditation and seva. Once we are fully recharge with SMS, We will able to find happiness, RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW !!!!

Life = Airplane

Life = Airplane

Have you ever compare your life and surroundings with airplane ?

Consider that you want to visit USA in the peek travel time. You struggle for everything you fill visa forms, stand in the big queue like a criminal for submitting those forms. Get under trial for VISA interview. You prepare yourself for stupid questions. People start telling you about Do's and Dont's. You fight for tickets and what not.

Finally the day comes and you check in your luggage, collect your boarding pass.
you board the flight. you put on seat belts. Plane completes its taxing. Both the engines start running in full throttle and the pilot releases the breaks and takes the plane off ground.

That's it !!!! Observe that very moment, from this moment till the landing of the plane you can only observe things happening around you. You can get down only before the take off, once you are in flight you can only get down after reaching to the destination. you don't go to cockpit and ask pilot to stop so that you can get down from the plane. you have full confidence on him that he will take you safely to the destination.

Life is like plane only.

We go through so many "yoni's" (different lifes, life of monkey, life of dog, life of donkey and what not) just to get the "Manushya yoni". We take so much efforts. In monkey yoni, we jump from one tree to other, we mimic others, do fight with other group of monkeys just to get food. In dog yoni, we work day in day out patrolling for others. In donkey yoni we work day in day out, carrying heavy bags from one place to other. We work so hard for getting birth in human yoni. These efforts are way too less than what we take for going to USA.

Treat life as a plane journey.
Once you get here, you can only get down when you die. You dont have any other choice. You are not the doer. You are not the pilot, you can just sit and watch it moving. Events come and they go, like in plane you cross borders of different countries, you may cross some river, some muntain or some desert or a big sea.Problem aries when you try to become pilot, which you are not qualified for. Just be a good passenger, nature will take care of its course.

You dont need to panic about anything, because whatever worst can happen to plane, its going to happen to everybody on the plane. Everybody going to die one day, so there is no point in panicking. Death is the common destination. Put your best efforts and let go those efforts. Dont hang on there. Life is best viewed from the windshield and not from the rear mirror. You can wipe out any dust from the windshield, but you dont have wipers on the rear mirror. Past events can not be erased, but present events can be made easy by putting our full efforts.

There are air traffic controller systems which guides plane through out its journey, who tell pilot which coordinates to take and which he should not. similarly in life, god is the pilot and you need to have some ATC which will have ability to control god. That air traffic controller system we call it as Guru. Everyone should have a Guru in his life. Guru is the one who can ask god to change his decisions. Guru is the one who help us in braking all the barriers. And i am really grateful to have one in My Life. Thanks Guruji for being in my life.
