When we come to this world our palms are closed tightly. We want to signify that we gonna rule on everything in this world. We will have all the powers in our hand. Anything and everything can be changed. Do you think we can change anything in this world ? We are not the Doer.
Also observe when someone die, he has his palms open and facing towards the sky. Now can we see who is the doer? Its interesting that we realize these things when we are close to our deathbed.
If we go to any temple in south India, person who performs the pooja, puts 'vibhuti' (ash) on their forehead. There is huge significance behind that. The ash serves as a reminder to the believer to cast away selfish and worldly desires that wrap the self in maya, and calls to mind the story of how Shiva burned Kama (the god of desire) to ashes when Kama attempted to break Shiva's focus on the Divine Truth.
You can do whatever you want to do in life, one day you will be sure gonna die. This is the ultimate truth in the world. You will die and will not be able to take anything from this materialistic world. Why are we running behind everything like a dog.
Have you ever observed dogs in the villages? If you are travelling by car then they will bark at you, follow you for some distance. If you stop, then they will just wait for another moving vehicle and as soon as there is a new vehicle, they will start barking at it and running behind it. We are treating life in a same way. We are running behind maya. It starts from our childhood. If i get this toy, i will be the most happiest person. You get the toy, you play with it for sometime. Then you start thinking if i get a bicycle i will be on top of the world. You get one and you ride for someday. These list of things is endless. It continues with branded clothes, watches, bike, car, house, bank balance and so on.
Have you calculated the amount of time you spend in enjoying these luxuries and the amount of time you invested in following them. Have you ever calculated the efforts that you put in it? And are you really happy when you have those things?
Happiness is in present. one can be happy in this very moment. Past brings tears, Future brings fear, that is why present is so so so dear. But we have forgotten this, we always let our mind swing between past and future. Even if we worry about future or cry about past, will that change our present.
So how can we come out of this? How can we make sure that we are enjoying present?
How can we come over the stress and anxiety of the future? There is a simple rule to that SMS. Do Sadhana ( yoga, pranayam, chanting ). Do Meditation. Do Seva ( serve those who want your help. serve people in whatever way its possible for you).
Human being is like cell phone. If a cell phone have SIM, balance, and range but the battery is not working. Will you be able to talk? Similarly we need to recharge our self through the power of sadhana, meditation and seva. Once we are fully recharge with SMS, We will able to find happiness, RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW !!!!
